This movie was released in 2006 and is a heist comedy film which has gained cult classic status. Written and directed by Farhan Akhtar and co-written by Abhijit Panse, the plot revolves around three bumbling crooks who dream to become big time robbers. They attempt to rob an auction house but find that it is just a front for smuggling stolen paintings. Phir Hera Pheri, as it is known as in the Hindi speaking world, means "The Second Attempt". It features Ajay Devgan, Sanjay Dutt and Akshaye Khanna among others - two actors considered icons of Indian cinema. Ajay Devgan (Siddharth) is released after serving two years of jail term. On his way to get back his life's belongings, he meets with Vicky (Sanjay Dutt) and Jaiveer (Akshaye Khanna). The three decide to rob a bank jointly. When they sneak out of jail, they find no bank nearby so they go to rob an auction house instead. They find Mili (Bipasha Basu) there, who tells them that the auction house is actually a front for smuggling stolen pictures. Ajay then decides to steal the painting which is about to be sold. He and his friends manage to take out the priceless painting (valued at Rs. 250 million) but during the escape, they are caught by Inspector Bhardwaj (Saif Ali Khan). Ajay Devgan goes on trial for this act of stealing. If convicted, he will go to prison for at least eight years, but if his act of thievery is proven true, he will be able to walk free as soon as possible, within 24 hours. Ajay then tells the court that he has bought the painting from a company named "Karim & Sons". The three boys then travel to Ahmedabad, in search of this company. On their way they meet a girl, called Naina (Kajol), whom they find out later is Mr. Karim's daughter. In Ahmedabad, Ajay and his friends discover several things. They meet two sister-in-laws who run a travel agency which is actually a front for an illegal business in counterfeit currency. They also discover that that Karim & Sons has been shut down long ago, and was in fact a mafia gang. They then find out that Naina is Mr. Karim's daughter. After this, the three boys, along with Naina and her friends, decide to break into the Reserve Bank of India's vault; because they believe that the painting is kept there. They manage to open the door of the vault and get in, but fail to get out of it because somebody has shut down the power supply. They hide in a dummy vault and manage to come out when they hear somebody entering. But it turns out that it is not a CBI officer but some local goons who attack them with guns and destroy their car.
