A new movie on Barbie and her furry, pink-clad friends is finally out. Directed by Raja Gosnell, the story follows Barbie as she teams up with Ken to find the magical shoes that will restore magic to the world. The film has done well at the box office but it has also stirred up controversy for one particular scene depicting a Muslim woman literally burning her clothes after discovering that she had been discriminated against because of her religion. The scene sparked anger among critics who were offended by its portrayal of Islam. Many Muslim activists all over the world criticize Barbie merchandise because they see its launching as a great act of blasphemy against their religion. As a Muslim you are always under threat of being suspected if you show any sign that you are different from the usual. But it is not always possible to maintain the same appearance. Also, being too different can be dangerous because it can influence people who have no idea of what they are talking about. This kind of attack on Islam has become so frequent in recent times that it is very hard to believe that these attackers have no idea what they are talking about.
